Telling the story of climate change on Channel 4 News

Alex’s face will be familiar to anyone who tunes into Channel 4 News on a regular basis. Journalist and broadcaster Alex Thomson, our other afternoon keynote speaker, will be sharing a case study of climate change news coverage, focusing on how Channel 4 News covered the hottest day ever recorded in the UK during July in 2022. He will also be inviting questions from the audience about the responsibilities and challenges for news media in sharing climate and nature news stories in the post +1.5 degrees world we now find ourselves in.

We invited him to take part because this coverage in July 2022 marked what we felt was a game-changing moment in the way our news media covered the issue of climate - joining up the dots across the news agenda of that day to drive home the urgency and the immediacy of the crisis. We know this talk from Alex and the Q&A that follows it will be challenging, informative and inspiring.
