Iain is Head of Landscape and Horticulture at Kew Wakehurst and author of “Meadow - The intimate bond between people, place and plants”. What he doesn’t know about meadows likely fits on the back of a packet of wildflower seed mix.
In his lunchtime walking workshop session, Iain will show us the diverse grassland plant species at Wakehurst and share the complex evolution of the hay meadow, with its entangled histories with basketmaking, pollinators, birdlife, soil, water, grazing and archaeology. You’ll return with a new appreciation of the role of meadows, and insights into how we might surround ourselves with them again.
